Self-compassion is often a radically new way of relating to ourselves. Research shows that the more we practice being kind and compassionate with ourselves, the more we can increase the habit of self-compassion.

LESSON 1: SETTING UP FOR SELF COMPASSION

Lesson 1

The purpose of this lesson is to get you started in the self-compassion mini-course.

In this lesson we will cover:

  • What you need to set up for success.
  • A definition of self-compassion.
  • The 3 Key elements that make up self-compassion.

I will be guiding you through the process. It is important to stay in sequence and not get ahead. It can throw you off course to look at the information that is out of context with where you are right now. 

This mini-course has been designed in order and in the proper sequence. I recommend doing this mini-course one lesson at a time with a day in between each lesson. This is the time to give yourself permission to slow down and allow the space to learn.

LESSON 2: COMPASSION MEDITATION

Lesson 2

The purpose of this lesson is to introduce you to a mindfulness practice.

In this lesson, I will share some points about the compassion meditation as well as when to listen to the compassion meditation.

First, watch the video in this lesson. Once you have finished watching the video, please listen to the compassion meditation. (click this link or access the file below after the video)

Afterward you may like to spend some time journaling and reflecting on what came up for you during the meditation.

LESSON 3: UNDERSTANDING THE BENEFITS OF SELF COMPASSION

*BEFORE watching the video in this lesson please listen to the compassion meditation to practice the skill of mindfulness.

The purpose of this lesson is to discuss understand the benefits of self-compassion and how they apply to you. 

I will also be discussing some of the challenges we may face when it comes to self-compassion and why.

After you have listened to the compassion meditation. Watch the video in this lesson. 

You may also like to allow some time journaling and reflecting on what came up for you during the meditation and after watching the video.

LESSON 4: DEVELOPING SELF COMPASSION PRACTICES

Lesson 4

*BEFORE watching the video in this lesson please listen to the compassion meditation to practice the skill of mindfulness.

Also, have your Journal ready for the experiential exercises.

The purpose of this lesson is to provide an overview of self-compassion practices that can be used regularly.  

You will learn: 

  • A simple and effective self-compassion technique called a self-compassion break.
  • The role of your inner critic 
  • An exercise to explore your inner critic
  • The role of your Inner nurturer/compassionate self
  • An exercise to explore your Inner nurturer

After these exercises, you may like to spend some time journaling and reflecting on what came up for you during the exercises as well as any ah-ha moments.

LESSON 5: BONUS - LOVING KINDNESS

The purpose of this bonus lesson is to introduce you to a loving-kindness practice to support you in developing self-compassion.

You will learn:

How to begin a daily practice of loving-kindness.
